My perennial gardens are a living tapestry that changes with the seasons, the foliage adding its own color and texture to the landscape. At the heart of it all, a large waterfall cascades over natural stone into a large pond, its steady rhythm bringing a sense of calm and tranquility to the space and your senses. The many seating areas in the gardens create a peaceful retreat where water, plants, and wildlife come together in quiet harmony. Wander over to the fenced vegetable garden, where the natural slope creates a beauty of it’s own while providing a steady harvest throughout the season.

We have a large eclectic garden area in progress with a waterfall, creek and ponds. There are lots of gardens along pathways that wind over and by the creek. There are “sit spots” along the way to enjoy the displays and the sounds of the whispering waters. Each garden has its own uniqueness and garden art. Just a note that the pathways are easy walking, but our property is on a moderate slope.

We have three different gardens for you to enjoy: Vegetables to the north, 32 plant rose garden to the south, and various annuals/perennials, plants/shrubs, in the backyard.
Gods beauty can be enjoyed as you relax in the shade of the gazebo or, on the swing while soaking up the soothing sounds of the waterfall and catching birds or butterflies in flight. Climbing our stairs you will notice hues of purple Lavender and Cat Mint, with Weeping Norway spruce arching over top of our waterfall. Ascending our rose garden you will breathe in the sweet aromas and notice the hand carved 7’ stone circle patio, where tea and desert is often served and enjoyed.
Jess Stacey
3530 Erickson Rd., Erickson
Jess Stacey, a Red Seal Landscape Horticulturist, runs ‘Herbarium’ from her small acreage in Erickson, offering seasonal cut flowers, botanical dye workshops, and handmade plant-inspired artwork. Her gardens feature a mix of cutting gardens, a dye garden, personal veggie plots, and fruit trees, blending ornamental and native plants. Transitioning from traditional ornamental horticulture to rewilding, Jess embraces a more natural approach, intentionally allowing some gardens to appear messy and overgrown. This philosophy challenges conventional aesthetics, emphasizing stewardship over strict gardening.

The garden is about an acre in size and includes a small alpine garden, a nice vegetable garden and a small backyard orchard. There are fairly extensive shrub and perennial borders throughout and several specimen tree varieties. We started with a bare field and have been gardening here for the past fifteen years, although we still consider our garden to be a work in progress.

Welcome to the world of Japanese Gardens. I started the garden in 1982 and Jack Rotar dug the pond and placed the massive boulders. Over the years I’ve planted hundreds of trees and shrubs and I built a pagoda. This is a great place to view the garden and the Skimmerhorn Mountain. The Japanese strive for a sense of balance and calmness. Come and explore the many beautiful pictures created by the plants and rocks.
